Literature Text

When you left yesterday,
I forgot to say,
Three simple words:
I love you.

I hid behind,
A shadow's cover,
Because I was afraid,
To let you see I cried.

And if I had nothing left to lose,
I wish I had chased after you.

We'd touch the stars,
Blend our hearts,
Yet you belonged,
To another one.

Candles shine so bright,
In the darkest of nights,
If they could only guide you back,
Into my sight.

And I always try to fall asleep,
Because I get to see you in my dreams.

If only I'd only had
The courage to tell you,
You might still be here,
In love with me too.
I was thinking today, what if I never told the person I loved that I felt that way about them?
What if I lost the chance to?
And this poem just kind of came out, and it shows my fear,
Of never telling her the truth.

Hope you enjoyed!
P.S. I usually do free verse, did you enjoy the rhyme?
